BAUMA AFRICA 2018 REPORT
After Padley & Venables first participation at the last show in 2015, we attended the latest edition of Bauma Conexpo Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa last week.
The stand had a brand new stand design especially made for the show and we were co-exhibiting together with our steel rolling mill division, Bedford Steels. Bedford Steels is also expanding in Africa and supplying an extensive range of hollow and solid bar and as a supplier to P&V, we have got complete quality control from rolling the steel to manufacturing and heat treatment of the tools. P&Vs quality system is fully accredited to the latest ISO standard ISO 9001:2015
The selection of button bits and shank adaptors on display was very well received by our visitors who were very impressed with the quality and finish.
With one of our local distributor, Glen Dalton from Tubes & Metals actively involved with the exhibition, many existing customers and new customers visited and we had some very interesting discussions and exchange of ideas with these professionals from the Rock Drilling, Mining and Construction industries about current tooling requirements and future solutions we can provide for these sectors.
According to the Bauma Conexpo Africa 2018 organisers:
“454 exhibitors from 34 countries and 14,167 visitors attended the international trade fair, which took place from March 13 to 16, 2018, in Johannesburg. 13 percent of the visitors came from outside the host country South Africa. The top five visitor countries from Africa were Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, Mozambique and Namibia. Delegations from Chile, Israel, Kenya and Turkey visited the trade fair. Their participation underlines the importance of bauma CONEXPO AFRICA as the largest industry event for this sector in the region.”
The quantity of visitors could have been higher but the quality of visitors from South Africa and rest of Africa had been very good and we should be able to develop some successful business relationships in the coming weeks and months.
